What This Role Involves This opportunity places you with a client that stands as one of the foremost plaintiff firms in New South Wales and holds a significant presence in the medical negligence field through its expanding practice. Working in the medical negligence team, you will draw on guidance from a head solicitor of elite capability while handling cases that prove both engaging and rewarding and that open pathways to an outstanding career trajectory. Compensation sits in the range of $75,000-$135,000. Responsibilities Investigate potential claims by collecting and reviewing clinical notes, hospital records and other evidence to evaluate liability and damages. Commission reports from independent medical experts and integrate their findings into overall case strategy. Deliver clear, practical advice to injured clients about prospects of success, settlement ranges and next procedural steps. Prepare high-quality pleadings, particulars of claim, affidavits, briefs of evidence and offer documents for negotiations or court. Conduct informal and formal settlement talks, including mediation and conciliation conferences, aimed at securing fair outcomes. Assist senior colleagues with court appearances, interlocutory applications and trial preparation when required. Maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy files and ensure every statutory deadline and client update is met promptly. Qualifications Around two years of post-admission experience as a solicitor at associate level, preferably gained in medical negligence or personal injury work. Valid New South Wales practising certificate (or immediate eligibility to obtain one). Strong capacity to analyse dense medical and factual material and translate it into sound legal recommendations. Excellent written and oral communication skills suited to client conferences, expert discussions and opponent correspondence. Willingness to accept close mentoring while also demonstrating initiative on a busy case load.
