Prepare specimens, verify proper labeling, and follow established procedures for each test methodology. Generate, review, and report test results in the laboratory information system, flagging any critical values for immediate physician notification. Conduct quality control checks, calibrate equipment, and troubleshoot instrument issues to maintain reliable performance. Maintain accurate records, including logs, maintenance documentation, and proficiency testing materials. Adhere to safety protocols, biohazard waste disposal guidelines, and regulatory requirements such as CLIA and OSHA. Collaborate with technologists, pathologists, and clinical staff to clarify orders and discuss unexpected findings. Participate in shift handover communications, ensuring continuity of testing and issue resolution. Engage in ongoing training and competency assessments to stay current with evolving laboratory practices. What We're Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Active certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) from ASCP, AMT, or another recognized agency. Eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania if required by state regulations. Demonstrated competence in performing clinical laboratory tests across multiple disciplines. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work accurately under moderate supervision. Effective communication abilities for interacting with healthcare team members and documenting findings. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and following institutional policies. Flexibility to work evening shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
