Mechanical Journeyperson

General Motors is hiring a skilled Mechanical Journeyperson to join our Getzville, Erie County operations team. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting our automotive manufacturing facility's mechanical systems and equipment maintenance programs.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Journeyperson at General Motors, you'll be instrumental in keeping our production equipment running safely and efficiently. You'll work with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across production machinery and facility infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and operational excellence. This role combines hands-on technical skills with problem-solving expertise in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

• Service, maintain, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment used in production and facility operations
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions and implement corrective solutions
• Install new mechanical components and equipment as needed
• Read and apply technical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications
• Perform precision alignment and machining work to exact specifications
• Execute preventive maintenance schedules to maximize equipment reliability and lifespan
• Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities
• Follow all safety protocols and quality standards

What We're Looking For

• Active journeyman certification in mechanical trades or equivalent skilled experience
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
• Experience with machining equipment and mechanical alignment procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system operation and troubleshooting
• Strong commitment to safety standards and quality craftsmanship
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a manufacturing team environment
