ADL, the world's leading anti-hate organization, is hiring a full-time Managing Editor based at its New York, NY office in Grand Central, Manhattan.
About the Role
The Managing Editor sits within ADL's Marketing division, reporting directly to the VP of Marketing and leading the Content Studio team. In this role, you will set and uphold editorial standards across ADL's content output, shaping how the organization communicates its mission to audiences nationwide. This is an on-site position at ADL's New York headquarters (Grade I, Exempt, PSA-Eligible).
What You'll Do
- Direct day-to-day editorial operations for the Content Studio team, managing workflows, deadlines, and production schedules
- Edit, proof, and publish content across digital and print channels, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency with ADL's voice and values
- Partner with the VP of Marketing to build and execute a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities and campaign goals
- Coach and develop Content Studio staff, providing editorial guidance and constructive feedback
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts, communications leads, and program teams to produce well-sourced, mission-driven content
- Establish and maintain editorial style guidelines, fact-checking protocols, and approval processes
- Monitor content performance metrics and apply insights to continuously improve quality and reach
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a managing editor, senior editor, or editorial director — ideally in a nonprofit, advocacy, media, or mission-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor editorial or content teams
- Exceptional command of US English grammar, style, and storytelling — with a sharp instinct for audience-appropriate tone
- Comfort working across formats: long-form articles, digital features, social copy, email, video scripts, and reports
- Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under deadline pressure
- Familiarity with content management systems and digital publishing workflows
- Deep commitment to civil rights, social justice, and combating hate and discrimination
