As a hands-on player-coach, you'll lead the Catalog engineering team that builds and scales the product catalog platform powering iHerb's global e-commerce experience. About the Role This is a player-coach leadership position at the center of iHerb's shift toward AI-assisted software delivery. You'll guide a small, highly experienced team of mid-to-senior full-stack engineers while continuing to ship production code yourself. As one of the earliest leaders piloting iHerb's AI-driven SDLC golden path, you'll set the technical standard, own delivery, and partner closely with the Principal Engineer on architecture and roadmap for the Catalog platform. Key Responsibilities Run sprint planning, delivery commitments, and retrospectives for the Catalog team. Stay hands-on as an individual contributor, writing, reviewing, and shipping full-stack production code each week with AI-assisted tooling. Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Catalog on technical direction and the platform roadmap. Recruit, onboard, and develop engineers, holding a high AI-native bar throughout the interview process. Proactively align with product managers and designers rather than waiting for top-down direction. Feed improvements back into the shared AI-driven SDLC golden path and skills library. Qualifications 7–10 years of software engineering experience, including at least two years leading a team or managing engineers. Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, and the ability to explain how AI reshaped your workflow and what guardrails you applied. Genuine full-stack range across backend and frontend, not a single specialized layer. Production experience in C#/.NET (the primary and strongly preferred stack), Go, Python, or Java, plus React or a comparable modern frontend framework. Relational database experience with MS SQL Server or Postgres. A proven record of owning commitments end to end and strong convictions about code quality, testing, and CI/CD. Experience hiring and growing engineers, with clear written and verbal communication and strong attention to detail. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
