Maintenance Worker

Sanctuary For Families is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Worker to help keep our High Bridge and Morrisania facilities in the Bronx safe, clean, and fully operational for the survivors and staff who rely on them every day.

About the Role

As a full-time Maintenance Worker based across our High Bridge and Morrisania locations in the Bronx, you will play an essential part in maintaining welcoming, secure environments. This is an on-site position central to the comfort and safety of the families we serve, and it offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine upkeep, minor repairs, and general maintenance across building interiors and exteriors.
• Respond promptly to facility requests and resolve everyday issues such as plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks.
• Support cleanliness, orderliness, and basic groundskeeping throughout the High Bridge and Morrisania sites.
• Monitor equipment and systems, reporting larger concerns to supervisors and coordinating with outside vendors when needed.
• Help ensure facilities meet safety and health standards for residents, clients, and staff.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in building maintenance, facilities work, or a related hands-on trade.
• Working knowledge of common repair tasks across plumbing, electrical, and general handywork.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple requests independently.
• A respectful, discreet approach suited to working in a sensitive, trauma-informed setting.
• Availability for full-time, on-site work in the Bronx (this role is not remote).
