Essex Property Trust is hiring a Maintenance Supervisor in Los Angeles, California to lead all maintenance operations at the Gas Company Lofts community and ensure optimal property performance and resident satisfaction.
About the Role
In this full-time supervisory position, you'll take ownership of the complete maintenance and repair operations that keep our Los Angeles residential community thriving. You'll balance building upkeep with fiscal responsibility, managing the maintenance budget and Net Operating Income while delivering the quality living environment our residents expect.
What You'll Do
- Direct all maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance programs, emergency repairs, and routine upkeep of building systems and grounds
- Supervise maintenance team members, assign daily priorities, and ensure work is completed safely and to quality standards
- Manage the property maintenance budget with accountability for cost control and operational efficiency
- Maintain the physical asset through regular inspections, repairs, and preventive care across all building systems
- Respond to resident maintenance requests promptly and ensure a quality living environment year-round
- Coordinate with third-party contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repairs
- Maintain compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and applicable California property standards
What We're Looking For
- Proven supervisory experience managing maintenance teams at residential or commercial properties
- Solid working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance
- Experience preparing and managing maintenance budgets and controlling operational expenses
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and direct staff
- Detail-oriented problem-solver committed to quality and resident satisfaction
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
