Builders FirstSource is hiring a full-time Machine Operator II for our Glass Shop in Matthews, Mecklenburg County — a hands-on role for a skilled woodworker who takes pride in precision millwork and dependable production output.
About the Role
As a Machine Operator II in the Glass Shop at Builders FirstSource in Matthews, you will run a range of specialized woodworking equipment to shape and finish lumber and wood stock to exact specifications. This is an on-site, full-time position ideal for a detail-driven operator who can set up machinery correctly, work safely, and consistently meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate specialized machines including the door router, stair router, welder, plate cutter, table saws, planer/jointer, and component cutter.
- Perform routing, boring, rip sawing, cross cutting, beveling, grooving, and mitering of lumber and wood stock.
- Select tooling and configure proper machine settings for each job to achieve accurate cuts and finishes.
- Inspect finished pieces against specifications to maintain product quality and minimize waste.
- Follow all safety procedures and complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating woodworking or fabrication machinery such as routers, saws, planers, and cutters.
- Ability to read job specifications and set up equipment to the correct configuration.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to workplace safety.
- Capable of performing the physical demands of a shop production environment in Matthews, Mecklenburg County.
