Several years of hands-on inpatient coding experience in an acute-care setting, plus prior leadership or lead-coder responsibility. Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, Official Coding Guidelines, DRG structures, and current coding clinics. Proven ability to audit work, coach staff, and raise accuracy rates through constructive review. Strong written and verbal communication skills for querying physicians, training team members, and reporting results. Comfort with electronic health-record platforms, encoder software, and spreadsheet tools for tracking productivity.
