Working directly within preschools, early childcare centers, and other early learning settings, you'll combine clinical expertise with practical consultation to create supportive environments where young children thrive. What You'll Do Conduct classroom observations and assessments to understand children's developmental and emotional needs Provide mental health consultation to teachers and staff, translating research into practical classroom strategies Facilitate professional development trainings on topics such as social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral support Lead reflective supervision groups, creating space for educators to process challenging situations and strengthen their practice Partner with parents to support children's mental health at home and school Collaborate with other professionals, including special educators, social workers, and healthcare providers Develop recommendations for individual children and program-wide approaches to mental health and wellness What We're Looking For Master's degree in a mental health field such as clinical social work, psychology, counseling, or marriage and family therapy License or credential as a mental health professional (LMSW, LPC, LMFT, psychologist, or equivalent) Experience providing mental health services to infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children Knowledge of early childhood development and evidence-based practices in early childhood education Strong communication and training skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences Cultural humility and commitment to supporting families across backgrounds and communities Ability to work collaboratively and build trust with educational partners About Starfish Family Services Starfish Family Services is dedicated to strengthening families and supporting children's healthy development across Oakland County.
