About the Role As a Hospital Based Inpatient Coder III, you will work within an electronic medical record and a computerized encoder to assign and sequence diagnosis and procedure codes, along with present-on-admission (POA) indicators, for inpatient encounters. Every code you apply is grounded in the medical record documentation and aligned with Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, encoder software guidance, and HIM policies. Key Responsibilities Review and validate Admission-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) data, abstracting discharge disposition, physicians, procedure dates, and POA indicators. Examine inpatient records to assign and sequence appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using encoder software. Evaluate MS-DRG and APR-DRG groupings to confirm accurate code assignment.
