Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota (Harrison County) is hiring a full-time Groundskeeper to help maintain the beauty, safety, and functionality of our campus grounds throughout every season.
About the Role
As a Groundskeeper at Southwest Minnesota State University, you will play a hands-on role in keeping our Marshall campus welcoming and well-tended. This is a full-time, on-site classified position represented under Bargaining Unit 203 (AFSCME – Service). It is an unlimited appointment classified as non-exempt under the FLSA.
Key Responsibilities
- Care for lawns, planting beds, trees, shrubs, and other landscaped areas across the university grounds.
- Operate and perform routine upkeep on groundskeeping tools, mowers, and related equipment.
- Support seasonal tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, watering, and snow and ice removal.
- Keep walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces clean, safe, and accessible for students, staff, and visitors.
- Coordinate with the facilities team to address grounds-related needs as they arise.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical, outdoor work in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
- Experience with grounds maintenance, landscaping, or related equipment is beneficial.
- Reliable, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to safety and quality.
- Willingness to work as part of a service-oriented facilities crew.
