What You’ll Do

Epic Games is looking for Mobile Game Designers to join our team working on Fortnite. In this role, you’ll work with the gameplay team to create features and systems that delight our mobile players with fresh experiences. Gameplay Designers at Epic are part of a cross-discipline development team that owns the vision and drive to create innovative features and content that expand the Fortnite universe on mobile.

In this role, you will

• Collaborate with teams developing new features, ensuring the vision, design and player experience are primed for our mobile audience on Fortnite
• Join forces with Design and Product to identify and solve any opportunities to improve the mobile experience in Fortnite
• Work in the Unreal Engine to implement your designs in close collaboration with UI/UX, engineers, animators, VFX, sound artists, QA, among others
• Work with Production to guarantee we are constantly evaluating the mobile experience, as well as prioritizing and enabling the team to work on any issues found
• Attend playtests and design review meetings to give feedback and identify practical solutions on mobile design considerations throughout development
• Evangelize mobile design best practices within the wider Fortnite team

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years experience shipping multiple titles as a mobile game designer on Unreal or Unity. Added bonus if you have experience and proficiency implementing in-engine things like prototypes and moment-to-moment gameplay (items, weapons, etc.)
• Strong interest in Fortnite, BR, and multiplayer games with an understanding of what makes them work
• Experience designing mobile game content for GaaS model or relevant online games experience
• Passion for games with a wide breadth of mobile development knowledge, including controls for mobile, progression and engagement systems as well as UX/UI
• Demonstrated talent for empathizing with players and a deep understanding of player motivations, forms of play, and the effects of goal setting on play
• Solution-oriented problem solver who can react quickly to changing project needs and drive decisions
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to fully own the outcome of a cross-disciplined team
