Intel
Intel is hiring a full-time Firmware HW Integration Validation Lead to join its engineering team in Orenco, Washington County — a role central to ensuring that next-generation Intel silicon and firmware function seamlessly together from first bring-up through production readiness.
About the Role
As the Firmware HW Integration Validation Lead, you will own the strategy and execution of firmware-hardware integration validation across Intel's embedded product lines. Working in environments where timing margins are tight and memory footprints are small, you'll be the technical authority ensuring that firmware behaves correctly when it meets real silicon — catching integration defects early and driving them to closure.
What You'll Do
- Define and lead firmware-hardware integration validation plans, test methodologies, and acceptance criteria for new and derivative silicon platforms
- Coordinate cross-functional bring-up efforts with hardware design, architecture, and software teams to align on validation coverage and schedules
- Develop embedded firmware test harnesses and diagnostic routines targeting constrained timing and memory environments
- Triage and debug hardware-firmware interface failures using lab instrumentation such as JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
- Characterize firmware behavior across process, voltage, and temperature corners to validate robustness
- Produce clear validation reports, bug documentation, and sign-off recommendations for program milestones
- Mentor and provide technical direction to engineers on the validation team
- Partner with silicon validation and pre-silicon teams to maximize coverage across simulation, emulation, and post-silicon environments
What We're Looking For
- Solid foundation in embedded firmware or software development, with hands-on experience writing and debugging low-level C or C++ in resource-constrained environments
- Demonstrated experience leading hardware-software integration validation or bring-up activities on complex digital platforms
- Proficiency with hardware debug and lab tools (JTAG/SWD interfaces, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers)
- Working knowledge of common embedded interfaces such as SPI, I2C, PCIe, or UART
- Strong analytical and systematic debugging skills — comfortable isolating root cause across firmware, hardware, and tooling layers
- Experience developing structured test plans and validation methodologies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive decisions across engineering disciplines
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
