About the Role

As Fire Watch Personnel with Polk Mechanical, you'll serve as a dedicated safety presence on active construction and service sites across Grand Prairie and the greater Dallas area. This on-site, full-time position is essential during hot work operations such as welding, cutting, and grinding, where vigilance helps prevent fire-related incidents and protects both people and property.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous watch over areas where hot work is being performed to detect and respond to fire hazards.
• Monitor work zones during and after operations to ensure no smoldering materials or ignition sources remain.
• Keep fire extinguishers and suppression equipment accessible, inspected, and ready for immediate use.
• Alert crews and supervisors promptly to unsafe conditions and follow established emergency response procedures.
• Document fire watch activities and support compliance with site safety standards and protocols.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay alert and focused throughout each shift.
