Canonical is hiring a full-time Engineering Director - Business Data for a Home based - EMEA role. This leadership position oversees the engineering groups that build and run the internal systems, data platforms and integrations that sit at the centre of company operations and analytics. About the Role As Engineering Director - Business Data at Canonical in Home based - EMEA, you will own development and day-to-day operation of internal business-system integrations, a complete data mesh grounded in leading open-source technology, and the configuration of Salesforce, NetSuite and related platforms. You will direct the Business Data unit—three closely collaborating software teams that work with engineering and business colleagues across the organisation. One team configures and evolves systems such as NetSuite and Salesforce so processes stay compliant and staff experience remains first-class. Another builds a governed data-mesh fabric that gives secure access to datasets from many internal and external sources, using tools that include Trino, Ranger and Superset and facing solid governance practices. The third designs and runs Python workflows on the open-source Temporal orchestration engine and onboards new feeds through Airbyte so data-driven decisions become easier across Canonical. You will set high engineering quality bars and grow the craft of your managers and engineers while supporting the organisation’s growth. What You'll Do Lead several engineering teams whose members range from graduates to senior practitioners Coach engineering managers so they sustain Canonical culture inside their groups Define, promote and refine strong engineering practices and ways of working Establish clear performance management with goals and objectives for directors’ reports and teams Track team-health indicators and intervene when improvement is required Own product-development roadmaps across the three teams Contribute actively to the Commercial Systems leadership forum and partner with peer leaders Grow capacity by hiring outstanding talent Work closely with stakeholders and people who use the products Qualifications Outstanding academic history at secondary and university level Undergraduate award in a technical discipline, or a persuasive account of an alternative route of preparation Demonstrated ability to steer multiple teams or a large body of software engineers to deliver excellent outcomes Hands-on engineering background in…
