Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc is seeking a dedicated, full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP OPWDD - Housing Services) in Port Jefferson Station, Suffolk County, to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals we serve.
About the Role
As a DSP within our Housing Services program, you will partner directly with the people we support, helping them pursue and realize their own Personal Outcomes. This OPWDD-aligned position centers on empowering each person to grow in independence while ensuring their health, safety, and overall well-being remain a priority every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate side by side with the individuals we support to advance their personal goals and aspirations.
- Coach and encourage the development of daily living skills that promote greater independence.
- Support the building of vocational and professional abilities.
- Help individuals strengthen informed decision-making skills.
- Safeguard the physical health, safety, and emotional wellness of each person in the program.
- Carry out the essential functions of the Direct Support Professional role in line with OPWDD standards.
Qualifications
- Genuine commitment to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Patience, compassion, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to work hands-on alongside the individuals we serve at our Port Jefferson Station location.
- Reliability and a team-oriented approach to full-time, on-site work.
