Omaha Public Schools is hiring a part-time Dishmachine Operator in Omaha, Douglas County to help keep our school nutrition program running safely and smoothly. If you take pride in cleanliness, dependability, and supporting students and staff with quality meals, this role is for you.
About the Role
As a Dishmachine Operator with Omaha Public Schools, you will be based at Westview High School and report to the Executive Director of Nutrition Services. This is a part-time, school-year position scheduled for 5.0 hours per day, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., working August through May while students are in session. Pay starts at $16 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the dishmachine safely and efficiently to clean and sanitize trays, utensils, and serving equipment
- Assist with preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals to students and staff
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas
- Rotate food stock and support general kitchen operations as needed
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards during each shift
Qualifications
- Ability to safely operate a commercial dishmachine and related cleaning equipment
- Commitment to food safety, sanitation, and proper handling procedures
- Reliability and the ability to work the scheduled daytime hours during the school year
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform the physical tasks of a busy school kitchen
- A team-oriented attitude and willingness to support meal preparation and service
