About the Role As Director of Sales, you will lead a team that designs forward-thinking financial products for Fortune 1000 organizations while nurturing and expanding a portfolio of Marqeta's largest, most strategic accounts. This is a full-time leadership position based in the United States, with the flexibility to work remotely or from our Oakland, CA or New York City offices. As payments evolve toward embedded financial experiences, you'll guide prospects and customers through new opportunities to unlock value in the movement of money and deepen customer loyalty. Note: Candidates living within 35 miles of our Oakland, New York City (Midtown), or London offices are expected on-site two days per week. The Talent team will share additional detail during the recruiter conversation. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of five or more Account Executives and Account Managers focused on Fortune 1000 customers and prospects across priority verticals. Craft and carry out a strategic sales plan that meets revenue goals and broadens the customer base. Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers inside enterprise organizations. Partner with marketing, product, and customer success teams to stay aligned on client needs and drive satisfaction. Maintain expert-level fluency in Marqeta's platform and articulate its value clearly to clients. Deliver dependable sales forecasts and disciplined pipeline management. Track industry shifts, competitor moves, and customer challenges to sharpen sales strategy. Shape your team's go-to-market approach, hiring, structure, culture, and processes to build a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and high-performing organization. Coordinate cross-functionally with Vetting, Delivery, GNSO, Sales Strategy and Operations, Banking Partnerships, and global sales partners. Qualifications 15+ years in enterprise technology sales and account management within a payments organization. 5+ years leading teams, with a proven record of growing high-performing AEs and AMs. Experience selling complex, multi-product technology platforms to enterprise buyers. Deep knowledge of payments, retail, fintech, and banking, with the ability to influence in complex scenarios.…
