Benevity is hiring a remote Director, Data and AI Engineering to set the vision and lead delivery of our data and machine learning strategy across the Benevity Impact Platform. Based out of Calgary, Alberta with the flexibility to work remotely, you'll turn data into product intelligence, automation, and AI-driven experiences for some of the world's most recognizable brands. About the Role As Director, Data and AI Engineering, you'll own the architecture, roadmap, and execution behind data-informed decisions and AI-powered services on our B2B SaaS platform. You'll guide teams spanning data engineering, data science, business intelligence, governance, and ML/AI systems to ship scalable, highly available solutions that align with both customer outcomes and business goals. Key Responsibilities Shape and execute the data and AI strategy, championing data-as-a-product principles where assets are secure, reusable, and valuable. Architect cloud-native systems supporting real-time streaming, data lakes and lakehouses, and enterprise warehousing with fault-tolerant pipelines. Lead the development and production deployment of explainable ML/AI models, applying MLOps practices such as model CI/CD, versioning, and real-time inference. Advance AI-driven recommendations, predictive analytics, NLP, and generative AI while upholding ethical, bias-free AI standards. Deliver BI dashboards, embedded analytics, and product analytics frameworks that surface SaaS metrics like MRR, ARR, churn, retention, LTV, and NPS. Own data governance, lineage, and access controls (RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC) with compliance across GDPR, SOC 2, PIPEDA, and CCPA. Qualifications 10+ years in data engineering, AI/ML, or analytics leadership, ideally within B2B SaaS or cloud platforms. Depth in scalable data architectures, ML/AI systems, embedded and customer-facing analytics, and multi-tenant SaaS governance. Proven success leading high-performing teams, managing budgets, and shipping data-driven product innovation. Fluency with LLMs, generative AI, and responsible AI frameworks; a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or AI/ML is preferred. Hands-on familiarity with stacks such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Delta Lake, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLflow, Vertex AI, Airflow, Kafka, Flink, Looker, Power BI, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Python, SQL, Scala, and Java.
