This full-time, on-site role blends hands-on underwriting with portfolio strategy and the modernization of credit processes through smarter technology. About the Role As Credit Risk Manager at Solaris in Frankfurt, you will own the full lifecycle of credit decisioning — from structuring and approving complex transactions to steering portfolio risk and helping evolve automated decision logic. You will work closely with international colleagues to keep credit exposure within agreed risk appetite while championing more efficient, technology-driven ways of working. Key Responsibilities Structure, evaluate, and approve complex credit transactions in line with the Operational Handbook (OHB) and external regulatory requirements. Continuously improve the credit approval workflow and maintain robust manual credit file management, reviewing files to keep risk profiles current. Contribute to the technical criteria behind the Decision Engine and ensure underwriting principles stay consistent across manual and automated channels. Produce regular qualitative portfolio reviews with actionable recommendations, and run ad-hoc assessments to address emerging risks. Oversee partner activities around dunning, workout, and collections to confirm alignment with risk standards. Resolve audit findings, lead underwriting training for CRM and Solaris teams, and drive projects such as launching new loan products. Qualifications University degree, ideally in economics, business administration, banking, or a comparable field. 3+ years of relevant credit risk management experience within a bank or financial institution. Knowledge of credit loan products, loan documentation, process design, credit structuring, and applicable regulatory frameworks. Advantageous skills in advanced Excel, Python, Tableau, and/or HTML. Fluent English for collaboration with international teams; German is a strong plus. A proactive, solution-focused, and independent approach, comfortable with tight deadlines and managing multiple stakeholders. Genuine enthusiasm for credit and for replacing outdated processes with modern, end-to-end approaches. Confidence working with AI tools, evaluating their outputs critically, and supporting responsible AI adoption.
