Applicants routinely target 20–30 schools and draft more than 60 essays, making polished brainstorming and revision skills critical. Availability when students are free—evenings, weekends, and holiday weeks across U.S. time zones—is essential. Hours flex between 10 and 25 per week: heavier October through January and lighter in spring and early summer. New hires commit to a minimum roster of 10 students. The position is an independent 1099 contract paying $35–$50 hourly; contractors may not work for direct competitors and must sign a standard non-compete. Key Responsibilities Help students design coherent four-year high school course plans Counsel on academic strengthening and experience-building that produce competitive résumés Construct balanced college lists paired with individualized admissions strategies Guide personal statement and supplemental essay work from brainstorm through multiple edits while tracking submission dates Walk students through major application platforms including Common App, Coalition, UC, CUNY, and SUNY Support activity-list and résumé preparation Oversee all application deadlines Prepare students for interviews Maintain timely email contact with students and families What You Bring Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred Minimum five years of professional college admissions experience working directly with students across the full process Demonstrated ability to advise on BS/MD and BS/DO applications with confidence Strong writing, brainstorming, and editing background Comfortable with Google Docs, Google Drive, and Zoom Schedule flexibility for nights, weekends, and peak holiday periods Readiness to cover approximately 10 hours weekly in quieter months and up to 25 hours during high season Selection includes verification of education, two professional references, writing samples, a practical essay-editing…
