About the Role This is a hands-on general foreman position where you'll manage the day-to-day operations of heavy equipment crews at a major datacenter construction or maintenance project. You'll balance direct equipment operation with crew leadership, ensuring every task meets state and federal requirements while upholding Mortenson's rigorous safety culture. What You'll Do Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and compactors according to project specifications and engineering requirements Plan and organize daily operations for equipment operators, assigning tasks and sequencing work based on project schedules and specifications Direct crews to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing construction and datacenter operations Enforce all safety protocols and Mortenson safety policies, conducting daily safety briefings and site inspections Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure equipment deployment aligns with project scope and timeline Troubleshoot equipment issues, maintain logs, and communicate maintenance needs to support teams Monitor site conditions and adjust operations to maintain productivity while protecting worker safety and environmental compliance What We're Looking For 5+ years of heavy equipment operation and crew supervision experience in construction or industrial settings Valid commercial driver's license and ability to relocate for traveler roles OSHA certification or equivalent safety training; willingness to obtain certifications as required Proven track record of managing equipment operators and coordinating multi-person crews Strong understanding of federal and state construction regulations and safety requirements Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing equipment issues Excellent communication and leadership abilities under high-pressure deadlines About Mortenson Mortenson is a leading engineering and construction firm delivering complex projects across industrial, infrastructure, and commercial sectors.
