About the Role

As a Category Manager with Southern Company, you will operate within the Supply Management organization, applying a structured category management framework to optimize sourcing decisions and unlock value across assigned spend categories. This opening is available at the Category Manager I, II, or Senior level, with placement determined by your experience and demonstrated capability. The position is based in Birmingham, AL, with the possibility of being located at Farley Nuclear Power Plant in Dothan, AL, Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant in Waynesboro, GA, or Plant Hatch in Baxley, GA.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies that maximize the total value delivered to the business.
• Partner closely with senior internal stakeholders to understand priorities and align sourcing plans accordingly.
• Apply category management methodology to evaluate suppliers, markets, and spend opportunities.
• Lead supplier negotiations and manage ongoing relationships to support reliability and cost efficiency.
• Identify and deliver savings, risk reduction, and process improvements across your assigned categories.

Qualifications

• Experience in supply management, procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Willingness to be based in Birmingham, AL, or at one of Southern Company's plant locations in Alabama or Georgia.
• Level of placement (I, II, or Senior) will reflect depth of relevant experience.
