FAMILY BUILDERS BY ADOPTION is hiring a full-time Bilingual Family Developer in Oakland, Alameda County, to help connect children and youth in foster care with the permanent, loving families they deserve.

About the Role

As a Bilingual Family Developer based in Oakland, you will use your language skills and community knowledge to reach, engage, and guide prospective foster and adoptive families. This on-site, full-time position places you at the heart of our agency's mission, supporting families through every step of building permanency for children and youth involved with the foster care and juvenile justice systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit, inform, and support prospective foster and adoptive families across diverse, multilingual communities.
• Guide applicants through orientation, assessment, and the family approval process.
• Build trusting relationships with families, partner organizations, and community groups in Alameda County.
• Provide bilingual communication, translation, and culturally responsive support throughout the family-building journey.
• Collaborate with agency staff to match children and youth with nurturing, permanent homes.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and a second language, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Genuine commitment to permanency for children and youth in foster care and the juvenile justice system.
• Respect for and ability to serve families of all backgrounds, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.
• Ability to work on-site in Oakland and build relationships across the community.
• Background or interest in social services, family support, child welfare, or a related field is welcomed.
