Assistant Store Manager

Extra Space Storage is seeking a full-time Assistant Store Manager to support daily operations at its Upper Saddle River, Bergen County location — a rewarding opportunity to grow your retail management career with one of the nation's largest self-storage companies.

About the Role

In this position, you'll work alongside the Store Manager and District Manager to keep one or more self-storage facilities running smoothly. The schedule is day shift only — the office closes at 6 PM — and the facility is closed on Sundays, giving you a consistent, manageable work week. You'll rotate across multiple stores within the district as needed. Starting hourly pay ranges from $18.00 to $20.00.

What You'll Do

• Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of self-storage facilities in the district
• Deliver attentive customer service — guiding renters through unit selection, lease agreements, and move-in processes
• Drive unit rentals and occupancy by effectively presenting storage solutions to prospective tenants
• Handle cash, process payments, and maintain accurate records in the facility management system
• Perform regular property walks to ensure cleanliness, security, and curb appeal meet company standards
• Support auction processes and delinquency management in line with company policy
• Step in for the Store Manager when needed, maintaining uninterrupted service for customers

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience in retail, property management, customer service, or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and convert inquiries into rentals
• Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple priorities across locations
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Solid written and verbal communication skills when interacting with customers and colleagues
• Comfort with basic computer systems and point-of-sale or property management software
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between district stores
