This role combines proactive legal strategy with hands-on transaction handling and counsel, positioning you to shape significant employment-related decisions across the District. What You'll Do Provide legal counsel and strategic guidance on employment law matters, wage and hour compliance, labor relations, and workplace conduct issues Conduct thorough legal analysis to identify risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities across employment-related decisions Manage transactional matters including employment agreements, separation documentation, policy development, and regulatory filings Review and develop employment policies, handbooks, and procedures to minimize legal exposure and ensure regulatory compliance Advise leadership on hiring, termination, discipline, discrimination, harassment, and other personnel matters Collaborate with human resources, operations, and executive leadership on the legal implications of employment decisions Monitor changes to federal, state, and local employment laws affecting public sector employers Participate in workplace investigations and document matters requiring legal review Support the Chief Legal Officer on additional legal projects and assignments as needed What We're Looking For Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active bar license in Ohio or eligibility to obtain one Meaningful experience or demonstrated competency in employment law, labor relations, or public sector legal matters Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills; ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly to non-attorney stakeholders Strong project management capability with skill managing multiple concurrent matters Proficiency with legal research platforms, document management systems, and standard office software Collaborative professional who builds effective relationships with colleagues, leadership, and external partners Sound legal judgment; commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and organizational service About Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District…
