Sweet Briar College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer to join its athletics and sports medicine team in Amherst, Amherst County, Virginia. In this on-campus role, you will help safeguard the health, performance, and well-being of student-athletes across the College's intercollegiate programs.
About the Role
As an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Sweet Briar College, you will support the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Working alongside coaching staff, team physicians, and fellow athletic training professionals, you will provide hands-on care that keeps athletes healthy and ready to compete throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day athletic training coverage for practices, competitions, and conditioning sessions.
- Assess injuries and conditions, then design and carry out appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Apply injury-prevention strategies, including taping, bracing, and protective techniques.
- Coordinate referrals and communicate with team physicians, coaches, and families regarding athlete care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards.
- Assist with the organization, stocking, and upkeep of athletic training facilities and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) as an Athletic Trainer.
- Eligibility for, or current, licensure to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Current CPR/AED and first aid certification.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills suited to a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as athletic schedules require.
