Johns Hopkins University is seeking a mission-driven scholar to join the Center for Humanitarian Health as an Assistant or Associate Research Professor focused on advancing the science and practice of humanitarian health.
About the Role
This is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment based in the Druid area of Baltimore, hosted by the Center for Humanitarian Health within the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As an Assistant or Associate Research Professor at Johns Hopkins University, you will help shape research, scholarship, and applied programs that strengthen health outcomes for populations affected by conflict, disaster, displacement, and other humanitarian emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to original research that builds the evidence base for humanitarian health interventions.
- Pursue and manage external funding through grants and collaborative partnerships.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and share results with academic and practitioner audiences.
- Mentor and teach graduate students and trainees preparing for careers in global and humanitarian health.
- Engage with humanitarian organizations, policymakers, and field partners to translate research into practice.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent) in public health, medicine, or a related discipline.
- A demonstrated record of scholarship and field experience in humanitarian health, global health, or emergency response.
- Evidence of, or strong potential for, securing research funding and producing peer-reviewed publications appropriate to the Assistant or Associate rank.
- A collaborative mindset and genuine commitment to improving health for vulnerable and crisis-affected communities.
