Aquatics Instructor (part-time)

HealthFitness, a Trustmark company, is hiring a part-time Aquatics Instructor to join its team at its Downers Grove, DuPage County facility — a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in participants' health and fitness journeys through water-based programming.

About the Role

As an Aquatics Instructor at HealthFitness in Downers Grove, you'll deliver engaging, structured swim instruction and water fitness programming to participants across a range of ages and ability levels. You'll be a trusted guide in the pool, helping individuals build confidence, improve technique, and achieve their personal wellness goals in a safe, supportive environment.

What You'll Do

• Plan and lead swimming lessons and aquatic fitness sessions tailored to participants' skill levels and goals
• Assess each swimmer's abilities and track progress over time, adjusting instruction to meet individual needs
• Maintain a safe aquatic environment by enforcing pool rules, monitoring participants, and responding promptly to emergencies
• Demonstrate correct swim techniques and provide clear, constructive feedback during instruction
• Communicate participant progress effectively to individuals, families, and program coordinators
• Maintain accurate attendance and program participation records
• Support the broader health and wellness community cultivated at the HealthFitness facility

What We're Looking For

• Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification or equivalent aquatics teaching credential
• Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification
• Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or equivalent) preferred
• Prior experience instructing swimmers of varying ages and skill levels
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and encourage participants
• Ability to demonstrate swim strokes and techniques in the water as needed
• Reliability, punctuality, and a genuine passion for health and fitness
• Comfort working in a team-oriented, community-focused environment
