Applications Engineer, Robotics

Tennant Company is hiring a full-time Applications Engineer, Robotics to join their team at the Eden Prairie, Minnesota headquarters — bringing technical depth and customer focus to one of the world's most recognized cleaning equipment manufacturers.

About the Role

As an Applications Engineer on the Robotics team, you'll sit at the intersection of cutting-edge autonomous cleaning technology and real-world customer deployment. Working a standard Monday through Friday schedule at our Eden Prairie, MN facility, you'll serve as the technical authority who bridges product capabilities with customer needs — from pre-sale application scoping through post-sale support and optimization. The annual salary range for this position is $85,200–$127,600.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate customer environments and operational requirements to define optimal robotic cleaning system configurations
• Deliver technical product demonstrations, proofs of concept, and on-site trials that support the sales cycle
• Partner with product development and engineering teams to relay field insights that drive product improvement
• Provide hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical training for robotic solutions across customer sites
• Develop application documentation, configuration guides, and best-practice materials for internal and external audiences
• Serve as a subject-matter expert on robotic navigation, sensor integration, and autonomous system behavior
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product management, and field service to ensure successful solution adoption

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a closely related field
• Hands-on experience with autonomous or robotic systems — navigation, sensor fusion, or control systems knowledge is a strong plus
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for both engineering and non-technical audiences
• Customer-facing engineering or applications engineering experience preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to troubleshooting
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed for demonstrations, commissioning, and support
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
