26/27 Counselor Pool – Secondary

Splendora Independent School District is building a qualified pool of full-time secondary school counselors for the 2026–2027 academic year to serve students across its district-wide campuses in Texas.

About the Role

As a Secondary Counselor with Splendora ISD, you will deliver a comprehensive guidance and counseling program aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. Reporting directly to the campus principal, you will serve middle and high school students through academic planning, social-emotional support, and college and career readiness programming.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement a structured counseling curriculum through individual sessions, small group meetings, and classroom-level guidance lessons
• Guide students through four-year academic planning, course selection, and graduation requirement tracking
• Support college and career readiness through transcript review, scholarship awareness, dual enrollment guidance, and post-secondary exploration
• Identify and respond to student social-emotional and behavioral needs, coordinating referrals to outside mental health resources when appropriate
• Assist in the development and implementation of 504 plans in collaboration with campus staff and administration
• Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and teachers to address student progress and well-being
• Maintain accurate student records and comply with all Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies
• Participate in campus-level meetings, professional development, and district counselor collaborations
• Support crisis intervention protocols and serve as a resource for students in acute need

What We're Looking For

• Valid Texas teacher certification
• Master's Degree in Counseling or a closely related field
• Texas School Counseling Certification (or eligibility to obtain)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings with diverse student populations
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining confidential student records
• Knowledge of secondary curriculum, graduation requirements, and college admissions processes in Texas
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with principals, teachers, and support staff
• Commitment to equitable, student-centered support at the middle or high school level
