About the Role

As a Sr Applied Data Scientist focused on Personalization, you will design, train, and ship recommendation models that power tailored experiences across Target's digital surfaces. Working from Brooklyn, Hennepin County, you'll translate large-scale behavioral data into production-ready models that make every guest interaction more relevant. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine recommendation system (RecSys) models that personalize product discovery at scale.
• Build, train, and optimize deep learning models using PyTorch and modern applied ML techniques.
• Move models from experimentation into reliable, production-grade systems.
• Partner with engineers, product managers, and fellow scientists to define and measure personalization impact.
• Run rigorous experiments, evaluate model performance, and iterate based on real guest signals.

Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise in applied machine learning, with a strong track record delivering models that ship.
• Proficiency with PyTorch and deep learning frameworks for large datasets.
• Practical experience designing or improving recommendation systems and personalization models.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $98,000.00 - $176,000.00. Actual pay depends on several factors that vary by position, including local labor markets and, in some cases, education, work experience, and certifications. Eligible team members and their dependents also have access to additional benefits offered by Target.
