Head of Philanthropy & Foundations

WePlanet is seeking a Head of Philanthropy & Foundations to build and lead our major foundations and HNWI fundraising programme from the ground up. This is a newly created senior role designed to unlock WePlanet‘s next phase of growth by building a transformational pipeline of philanthropic income from major foundations and high-net-worth donors.

Requirements

• Substantial experience, typically five or more years, in major gift, foundation or institutional fundraising at a mission-driven organisation.
• A demonstrable personal track record of leading fundraising work that has secured significant six- or seven-figure commitments from major foundations and/or HNWI donors.
• Experience of building a foundation or major donor pipeline, not only inheriting and maintaining one.
• Outstanding written and spoken English, with the ability to operate comfortably with the idioms and expectations of top-tier philanthropic institutions.
• Strong proposal writing and strategic storytelling skills, translating complex, science-based campaigns into compelling cases for support.
• Strong visual presentation skills, with the ability to conceptualise and produce quality decks for major funders, working effectively with designers, AI tools, or both.
• Confident public speaker, comfortable holding the room in small pitch meetings, on funder panels and from the stage at events.
• Ability to operate with autonomy and judgement, navigate ambiguity and work at pace in a lean, fully remote team.
• Alignment with WePlanet‘s ecomodernist values, including comfort advocating for evidence-backed technologies such as nuclear power, GMOs and alternative proteins as part of the response to the climate and nature crisis.
• Willingness to travel internationally for cultivation meetings, conferences and stewardship events.
