Fund Manager – Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC)
Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned FICC Fund Manager to manage and grow a dedicated portfolio with a strong focus on Asian credit, rates, and currencies. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of generating alpha through active management across both investment-grade and high-yield instruments. Expertise in navigating Asian capital markets and fluency in Mandarin to access onshore and offshore Chinese opportunities are critical for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management & Alpha Generation:
- Develop and execute investment strategies for the FICC portfolio, aiming to consistently outperform the benchmark.
- Conduct rigorous top-down macro and bottom-up credit analysis to identify attractive opportunities across sovereign, corporate, and structured credit.
- Manage portfolio risk, duration, yield, and currency exposure with a disciplined and active approach.
- Research & Strategy:
- Perform in-depth fundamental credit research, including financial modeling, covenant analysis, and issuer due diligence.
- Formulate strong, evidence-based views on interest rates, yield curves, and FX movements, particularly within the Asia-Pacific region.
- Monitor and analyze geopolitical and macroeconomic events and their impact on FICC markets.
- Trading & Execution:
- Execute trades efficiently across bonds, interest rate derivatives, credit default swaps (CDS), and FX spots/forwards.
- Maintain strong relationships with sell-side dealers to ensure best execution and access to primary market offerings.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Clearly articulate investment rationale, performance, and market outlook to internal committees and clients.
- Collaborate closely with the research, risk, and compliance teams.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8-10 years of direct FICC portfolio management experience, preferably with a focus on Asian markets.
- Demonstrable track record of strong and verifiable investment performance.
- Deep expertise in Asian fixed income, particularly Chinese SOEs, property sector, and Dim Sum/CNH bonds. Experience with Asian high-yield is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in using derivatives for hedging and portfolio enhancement.
- Exceptional financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential to research Chinese issuers and engage with mainland counterparts.
- CFA designation or equivalent postgraduate qualification is strongly preferred.
