We're seeking skilled professionals who take pride in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring our mechanical systems operate at peak efficiency.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Mechanic at The University of Utah, you'll perform essential repairs, maintenance, and inspections across our campus facilities. This is hands-on technical work that keeps our operations moving — from HVAC systems to mechanical equipment and facility infrastructure. We have 6 positions available across multiple districts, offering the opportunity to work on diverse projects and expand your skill set.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems
- Diagnose equipment failures and troubleshoot issues using mechanical knowledge and testing tools
- Install, repair, and replace mechanical components following established safety standards
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance work, parts used, and equipment status
- Respond to equipment emergencies and urgent facility needs
- Collaborate with maintenance teams and coordinate with other departments
- Follow safety protocols and comply with campus regulations
What We're Looking For
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with equipment maintenance, repair, or related mechanical work
- Ability to read schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a maintenance team
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and professional demeanor
