South Bay Union School District is seeking a dedicated Supervision Assistant (Position #626 – Oneonta) to support student safety and well-being in a full-time, on-site capacity.
About the Role
As a Supervision Assistant at South Bay Union School District, you will play a vital role in maintaining a secure, supportive environment for students outside of instructional settings. This position works directly with school staff to monitor student activity, document behavioral observations, and help ensure every student's welfare throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee student conduct and safety during non-classroom periods such as recess, lunch, and transitions between activities
- Observe student interactions and report incidents or concerns that may affect a student's development or well-being to appropriate school personnel
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other staff regarding student behavior and campus safety matters
- Respond calmly and appropriately to conflicts or situations requiring immediate attention
- Maintain a visible, attentive presence across assigned campus areas
Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and families
- Strong observational and communication skills
- Experience working with school-age children in an educational or supervisory setting is preferred
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in dynamic situations
- Must meet any applicable district background clearance and employment eligibility requirements
