Hearts and Hands of Care is hiring a full-time Human Resources Specialist to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska — a role built for an HR professional who thrives on substantive, analytical work across the full scope of human resources functions.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Specialist at Hearts and Hands of Care takes ownership of complex, high-level HR responsibilities that span multiple functional areas. This is not a generalist position in name only — you'll handle technically demanding work that shapes how our workforce is built, supported, and retained.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end recruitment and selection processes, including job posting, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer facilitation
- Support workforce planning initiatives by analyzing staffing needs and contributing data-driven recommendations
- Administer and interpret compensation and benefits programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource on retirement plan administration and employee inquiries
- Assist in labor relations matters, including policy interpretation, documentation, and compliance with applicable employment regulations
- Deliver responsive, professional customer service to employees and managers navigating HR processes
- Maintain accurate HR records and contribute to reporting, audits, and process improvements
- Collaborate with the HR Manager on special projects and organization-wide HR initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in human resources, with exposure to recruitment, compensation, benefits, and/or labor relations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — you're comfortable working through complex HR scenarios with accuracy and sound judgment
- Solid understanding of HR principles, employment law fundamentals, and best practices in workforce management
- Exceptional attention to detail in documentation, data management, and compliance tasks
- Clear, professional communication skills and a service-oriented approach when working with employees at all levels
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency with HR systems and standard office software
