Job Developer

The WorkPlace is hiring a full-time Job Developer to join its Operations team in Bridgeport, CT — a pivotal role connecting Fairfield County job seekers with meaningful employment opportunities across high-demand industries.

About the Role

Reporting to the Program Director, the Job Developer serves as the primary bridge between The WorkPlace's program participants and area employers. This non-exempt, full-time position carries a salary range of $47,250–$54,600 and is based on-site in Bridgeport. You will cultivate an employer network — with particular focus on healthcare, retail, and hospitality — while guiding candidates toward job placements that match their skills and goals.

What You'll Do

• Prospect, engage, and build lasting partnerships with employers across Fairfield County, prioritizing sectors such as healthcare, retail, and hospitality
• Match qualified program participants to open positions and facilitate introductions between job seekers and hiring managers
• Conduct employer outreach through site visits, calls, job fairs, and community networking events
• Collaborate with career counselors and case managers to ensure candidates are job-ready before referrals
• Track placement activity, retention milestones, and employer engagement data in program systems
• Identify emerging hiring trends and communicate in-demand skill requirements back to program staff
• Represent The WorkPlace professionally at workforce development events and employer convenings throughout Bridgeport and greater Fairfield County

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional relationships with business partners or employers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence presenting to employer groups
• Experience in workforce development, staffing, business development, or a related human-services field preferred
• Comfort working with diverse populations, including individuals facing employment barriers
• Organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple employer accounts and candidate referrals simultaneously
• Proficiency with standard office technology and data-tracking tools
• Knowledge of the Bridgeport and Fairfield County labor market is a plus
