Vicinity Energy

Vicinity Energy, North America's largest district energy provider, is hiring a full-time Maintenance Planner to join its operations team in Baltimore, Baltimore County.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Planner at Vicinity Energy's Baltimore facility, you'll be the connective tissue between field technicians and the broader operations organization — translating work requests into fully resourced, executable job plans that keep critical district energy infrastructure running at peak efficiency. This is a hands-on planning role inside a company that heats and cools some of the most recognizable buildings across major US city skylines.

What You'll Do

  • Develop detailed work packages for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks, including labor estimates, parts lists, tooling requirements, and step-by-step procedures
  • Create, prioritize, and manage work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), maintaining accurate equipment histories and maintenance records
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisors and operations staff to build and publish weekly and long-range maintenance schedules that align with plant availability windows
  • Coordinate material and parts procurement with the supply chain team to ensure kits are staged and ready before work begins
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability by analyzing failure trends, maintenance backlogs, and CMMS data
  • Support compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company maintenance standards on all planned work
  • Participate in post-job reviews to capture lessons learned and refine future job plans

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning and scheduling in an industrial, utility, or energy production environment
  • Proficiency with a CMMS platform (such as IBM Maximo, SAP PM, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems common to central plant or district energy operations — including boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, and distribution piping
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals
  • Excellent organizational skills with a track record of managing multiple priorities under deadline pressure
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across operations, engineering, and procurement teams
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience in a maintenance trades role
