About the Role

As an Estimator at Bergman Construction, you will own the end-to-end estimating process for significant commercial and construction projects across the region. Your work directly influences which projects the company pursues and wins, making accuracy, competitiveness, and thoroughness central to everything you do. This is an on-site position based out of the Brea office in Orange County, California.

What You'll Do

• Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes for major construction projects
• Review and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and project specifications to determine scope and quantities
• Solicit, compare, and qualify bids from subcontractors and material suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
• Conduct pre-bid site walks and evaluate existing site conditions that may affect project cost or schedule
• Build and maintain an up-to-date database of unit costs, historical pricing, and productivity benchmarks
• Collaborate closely with project managers, field superintendents, and ownership to align estimates with execution realities
• Prepare and assemble complete bid packages, including assumptions, exclusions, and value-engineering alternatives
• Track bid outcomes to identify trends and continuously improve estimate accuracy and win rates

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, ideally on projects of significant scope and value
• Strong ability to read and interpret full construction drawing sets and technical specifications
• Proficiency with industry-standard estimating and takeoff tools (such as Bluebeam, Procore, or equivalent platforms)
• Solid understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and cost drivers across multiple trades
• Analytical mindset with rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to estimate integrity
• Effective communicator who can coordinate across internal teams, clients, and subcontractor partners
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is a plus — equivalent hands-on experience is equally valued
