Workforce Planner

Black Box is hiring a full-time Workforce Planner based in Plano, Collin County, TX — a strategic role responsible for aligning staffing capacity with operational demand across a dynamic, multi-account managed services environment.

About the Role

As a Workforce Planner at Black Box's Plano location, you will serve as the analytical backbone of field operations — translating historical data, live workload signals, and business pipeline into precise headcount plans that keep service delivery on target. This position sits at the intersection of operations, finance, and HR, requiring both quantitative rigor and strong cross-functional communication.

What You'll Do

• Build and continuously refine short- and long-term staffing plans spanning multiple client accounts
• Model headcount requirements by analyzing historical demand patterns, active break-fix ticket volume, and open work order queues
• Incorporate pipeline opportunities and projected business growth into rolling capacity forecasts
• Track capacity-versus-demand gaps in real time and escalate or recommend staffing adjustments proactively
• Partner with account managers, operations leads, and HR to translate workforce plans into actionable hiring or redeployment decisions
• Develop dashboards and reporting that give leadership clear visibility into staffing utilization and coverage risk
• Identify scheduling inefficiencies and propose process improvements that reduce cost and improve service levels
• Support scenario planning for contract expansions, new account onboarding, and seasonal demand shifts

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, capacity planning, or a closely related operations-analytics role
• Proficiency with forecasting methodologies and comfort working with large, multi-variable data sets
• Familiarity with managed services, field services, or IT operations environments (break-fix and work order workflows a plus)
• Strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets; experience with workforce management platforms or BI tools preferred
• Ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple accounts simultaneously
• Collaborative communicator who can align operations, finance, and HR around a shared staffing strategy
