Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a full-time Data Center Technician to join its infrastructure team in Sharon, Madison County — a hands-on role at the foundation of the world's leading cloud platform.
About the Role
As a Data Center Technician at Amazon, you'll be a frontline steward of the physical infrastructure that keeps AWS services running around the clock. From diagnosing hardware faults to maintaining network integrity, your work directly supports the millions of businesses and developers who depend on AWS every day. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sharon, Madison County.
What You'll Do
- Perform in-depth hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on servers, storage systems, and networking equipment
- Conduct network diagnostics and support physical layer connectivity across data center infrastructure
- Execute routine and emergency maintenance tasks to ensure maximum uptime and operational continuity
- Follow established procedures for equipment installation, decommissioning, and rack-and-stack operations
- Monitor data center environmental systems and escalate anomalies per standard operating protocols
- Collaborate with remote engineering and operations teams to resolve infrastructure incidents efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, maintenance activities, and incident reports
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience with server hardware components, including CPUs, memory, drives, and network interface cards
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals — cabling, switches, routing basics, and physical layer troubleshooting
- Ability to read and follow technical documentation, work orders, and runbooks accurately
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues
- Comfort working in a physically demanding environment — lifting equipment, working in hot/cold aisles, and standing for extended periods
- Reliable availability for shift-based scheduling, including nights, weekends, or on-call rotations as required
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-team coordination and incident documentation
