Wood County Schools is seeking a hands-on General Maintenance/Locksmith to help keep its facilities safe, secure, and fully operational. This full-time role with West Virginia K-12 Jobs is an excellent fit for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in dependable, high-quality maintenance work.
About the Role
As the General Maintenance/Locksmith, you will be based out of the district's Physical Plant/Maintenance department, supporting day-to-day upkeep across school buildings and grounds in Wood County, West Virginia. The position blends general building maintenance with specialized locksmith duties, ensuring that students, staff, and visitors benefit from secure, well-maintained learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on district facilities, equipment, and physical plant systems
- Install, repair, rekey, and maintain locks, door hardware, and access control components throughout school buildings
- Diagnose mechanical issues and complete timely repairs to minimize disruption to school operations
- Respond to maintenance requests and support emergency repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate records of keys, locking systems, and completed work
- Follow established safety procedures and district guidelines while on the job
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in general building maintenance and/or locksmithing
- Working knowledge of locks, keying systems, and door hardware installation and repair
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of facility repair needs
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety
- Ability to work on-site full-time within Wood County, West Virginia
