About the Role
As a Bus Driver with Channahon School District 17, you will operate a school bus on assigned routes, ensuring every student reaches school and home securely and on schedule. This is a support staff position based on two daily runs, with the regular schedule built around two runs (approximately three hours) and additional extra trips available for those who want more hours. The position is available beginning August 19, 2026, in line with the 2026-2027 school calendar.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive assigned morning and afternoon routes, completing two scheduled runs per day.
- Maintain a safe, orderly environment for students during transport.
- Follow all traffic laws and district transportation policies.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and report any concerns.
- Volunteer for extra trips, such as field trips or activities, when available.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Illinois driver's license is required.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate school bus endorsements.
- A strong commitment to student safety, dependability, and clear communication.
Compensation
This Bus Driver position pays $62.80 per run, with two runs per day. Extra trips are available for additional earning opportunities throughout the school year.
