Project Archaeologist

WSP USA is hiring a full-time Project Archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources Management team, based in Wellston, Saint Louis County, Missouri, with eligibility across our Midwest offices. About the Role

As a Project Archaeologist at WSP USA, you will help guide the archaeological components of diverse Cultural Resources Management (CRM) projects. Working from our Wellston, Saint Louis County location, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists dedicated to delivering responsible, sustainable outcomes for clients and the communities they serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the planning, execution, and management of archaeological field investigations across CRM projects.
• Conduct background research, site documentation, and analysis in support of cultural resource evaluations.
• Prepare clear technical reports and documentation that meet regulatory and professional standards.
• Partner with engineers, environmental scientists, and fellow cultural resource professionals to integrate findings into broader project goals.
• Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local historic preservation requirements.

Qualifications

• A background in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with archaeological fieldwork, survey, and reporting within a CRM context.
• Familiarity with cultural resource regulations and historic preservation practices.
• Strong writing, organizational, and collaboration skills suited to a team-oriented environment.
• Willingness to work on-site at a WSP office in the Midwest, with this position centered in Wellston, Saint Louis County.
