NIKE is hiring a Lead Designer, Running Footwear Materials Design Create & Expression to shape the look and feel of performance running footwear from our West Slope campus in Washington County. If you live at the intersection of materials innovation and storytelling, this full-time, on-site role puts you at the heart of NIKE's creative engine.
About the Role
As Lead Designer, Running Footwear Materials Design Create & Expression, you will translate seasonal creative direction into tangible material concepts that define how NIKE running shoes look, feel, and perform. Based on-site in West Slope, Washington County, you will partner across disciplines to push materials design forward and reports directly into the Running Footwear Materials Design leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and expression of footwear materials that bring seasonal creative direction to life across NIKE running.
- Work hand-in-hand with Footwear Industrial Design, Color Design, Graphic Design, and Digital Design teams to deliver cohesive material stories.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Development partners to move concepts from idea to production-ready reality.
- Champion innovative material choices that elevate both the performance and aesthetic of running footwear.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in footwear, materials, or industrial design, ideally within performance or athletic product.
- A strong cross-functional collaborator able to align designers, marketers, and developers around a shared creative vision.
- Deep curiosity for materials, texture, and surface expression, paired with the craft to execute at a high level.
- Comfort leading creative work and guiding it from concept through development.
