Technician

Hampton Lumber is hiring a full-time Technician to join its operations team in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon — a hands-on technical role at one of the Pacific Northwest's most established wood products companies.

About the Role

As a Technician at Hampton Lumber's Portland facility, you'll be a critical part of keeping mill and production equipment running safely, efficiently, and to spec. This is a position for someone who takes pride in precision work, thrives in an industrial environment, and understands that reliable equipment is the backbone of quality lumber production.

What You'll Do

• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on production and processing equipment
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime
• Diagnose equipment faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly
• Collaborate with production staff and supervisors to prioritize and coordinate maintenance work
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
• Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment status accurately
• Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and throughput

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or mill maintenance technician role
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical fundamentals, and hydraulics
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems independently and under time pressure
• Familiarity with lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and general industrial safety practices
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach
• Physical ability to perform the demands of the role, including lifting, standing, and working in varied environmental conditions
• A valid driver's license is preferred
