TSG - The Sheridan Group is hiring a full-time Press Rollstand Operator at its North Thetford, Orange County facility — a hands-on production role at one of the nation's most respected print and publishing service companies.

About the Role

As a Press Rollstand Operator on the day shift, you'll keep high-speed web presses running smoothly by managing paper roll changes, maintaining proper web tension, and supporting press crews throughout each production run. This is a physical, fast-paced position central to on-time delivery of magazines, catalogs, and scientific and medical journals that reach readers across the country.

What You'll Do

• Load, position, and secure large paper rolls onto rollstands using roll-handling equipment
• Monitor web tension and roll alignment during active press runs and make real-time adjustments
• Execute flying splices and manual paste-ups to minimize press downtime during roll transitions
• Inspect incoming rolls for core damage, moisture, or other defects prior to mounting
• Coordinate directly with press operators to anticipate roll changes and maintain production pace
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to stage and move roll stock
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on rollstand equipment
• Log roll usage and production data accurately per shift requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all plant safety protocols

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience in a printing, paper converting, or high-speed manufacturing environment preferred
• Comfort operating heavy roll-handling or forklift equipment (certification a plus)
• Solid mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
• Physical capability to work on your feet for extended periods and handle heavy materials
• Strong attention to detail and ability to react quickly in a production setting
• Reliable team player who communicates proactively with crew members and supervisors
• Ability to read and follow written work instructions, safety procedures, and production schedules
