Tank Welder

JTS is hiring a full-time Tank Welder to join its fabrication team in Abilene, Taylor County — a hands-on role building large-scale industrial fuel storage solutions from the ground up.

About the Role

As a Tank Welder at JTS, you will take the lead on fabricating heavy-duty diesel fuel tanks — structures up to 60 feet in length and 13 feet across, engineered to hold between 3,000 and 10,000 gallons. This is precision work that demands both technical welding skill and an uncompromising commitment to workplace safety. Every tank you build leaves the shop ready to perform in demanding industrial environments.

What You'll Do

• Read, interpret, and work directly from engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications
• Fabricate and assemble large-capacity diesel fuel tanks to exact dimensional and quality standards
• Perform MIG, TIG, or stick welding on carbon steel and related materials as required by each project
• Fit, tack, and position structural components before full weld passes
• Grind, cut, and prep base materials to ensure clean, defect-free weld joints
• Inspect completed welds for integrity, consistency, and compliance with project requirements
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow JTS safety protocols at every stage of production

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated hands-on welding experience, ideally in a fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
• Working knowledge of common welding processes and metal fabrication techniques
• Strong attention to detail and consistent weld quality across large, complex assemblies
• Solid understanding of shop safety standards and personal commitment to following them
• Physical ability to perform sustained manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing throughout a full shift
• Welding certifications are a plus
